Red Hot FTU Tutorial- NO SCRAPS

This tutorial is my own creation and any similarity to any other tut is merely coincidental.
Please do not copy and paste anywhere else and link back to my blog.
This tut was written by me September 29th, 2014.

This tutorial was done using Photoshop CS5

Supplies needed are as follows:
Template:
Template #19 HERE

Filters: Penta: VTR2, Penta: Color Dot & Xero Bad Dream

Font used:
Corporea in color #e70606
This font can be found HERE
The exact layer style is HERE
CR is in FFF Urban and can be found HERE

Tube of choice is from ©VeryMany
You can find this tube on Pics For Design HERE

Mask #62 from Moonbeams & Spiderwebs: HERE

Let's Begin:

Open Template #20. Choose a tube or use the one I used and size down to fit your canvas. Add slight drop shadow to your tube. Apply the filter Xero Bad Dream to the tube in the following settings:

Take one close-up of the same tube and arrange them on the center circle red. Place it over the shape and go to Layer>Create clipping mask. Then, in various places on the template using the clipping mask again, apply the other close ups to the others parts of the template. . Do this on all of the shapes. Change the screen mode of all of the tubes to Screen. Make sure you go and add Xero:Bad Dream (same settings as before) to all of your tubes.
Do not place a tube on the red vertical rectangle. Now you should have something similar to this:

Now, press down your Control key and click the individual shapes in the template and their corresponding tube to highlight those two layers. The screen mode tube and the shape your are on should now be highlighted in blue on the layer palette. Now press Control E to merge the two layers. Do this on all of the pieces of the template. After you're done, you should have 9 merged layers and your tube layer so 10 layers in all. Add a little drop shadow to every piece of the merged template pieces.

My drop shadow settings:

Now on the center, red circle apply Penta: VTR2 in the following settings:

and on the back red vertical rectangle apply Penta:Color Dot in the following settings:

Merge your tag together by going to Layer>Merge visible. Make sure you're not merging the name or if you're working on a white background, don't merge that. This tag should be transparent when saved.

Let's apply our mask. Choose any color from your tube to use on your mask. Here I chose orange. Add a new layer on your layers palette and using the paintbucket tool drop the color into the layer. You can also use a paper of your choice.

Now uncheck the layers on the layers palette. Do not uncheck your mask layer.

Go to the Channels bar, and hit the Control button and click into the very first box on channels.

Now go back to your layers palette. Uncheck the mask box, and check the paper or color layer. The paper layer should be the only layer checked on the layers palette.Press "add vector mask" button which is circled in the screenshot below:

now you should have this:

You can delete the original mask and go to Layer>Merge visible to merge the mask with the tag.

Make sure you add your proper copyright anywhere on the tag. Add the name and you're done. See, it looked complicated but it was pretty easy. Make this your own, you can change any part, use a different tube, use different colors. Whatever you like. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.

  1. This is a great tutorial. However, I found that it wasn't
template 20 but rather it was template 19, that was used.
Thanks for sharing your talent. :)
